Hi all,

I have a 2004 Megane 2, with Sunroof.
I noticed that in this winter (leaving in Israel, winter is 2-15 deg, Celsius) the sunroof is refusing to open, but when it become warmer it opens.

What do you think I should do? Should I grease it?
About greasing, which material to use?

Would be happy to get an answer ....

You'll kick yourself...

I'm not even sure this is the manual but under a certain temperature the sunroof will not open to prevent damage to the seals I presume. No need to grease it, its just doing its job. I'm not 100% sure of the temperature. This is supposed to happen.

Are you sure? It might be set at different rates in different countries. In the UK some users report about the freezing mark. It might also be one of the differences of the later/earlier vehicles.

No this is Israel, it doesnt get too cold there, only at night, Just another typical Renny problem, take it back to the dealer,
The grease will be effective from + 50 to - 20deg C. It's some other prob.

Out of interest does your temperature readout display the correct temperature?

Just checked. It stops operating at 6 degrees or below (or is supposed to).

Hey Guys,

Thank you all....

Yes in Israel it doesn't too cold, but it can get near 0 deg,

Now it is ok, I am not sure why, it can be because of the cold days we had, but now I recall it happened sometimes in the summer too (25+ deg)...

So greasing can't help? ( It is written in the manual to oil the rubbers around the sunroof every 6 months ,,, but could not find any rubbers around it).
Took it to some pro, and he told me maybe greasing could help...

I highly doubt greasing will help. Do you hear the sunroof even attempt to move on days its refusing to open?

Yes it is making a very low noise, like a tick ,,,,,and any turn of the controller makes this tick

Oh...and I am not sure this noise is an attempt to get open,,,,

Hi

Just a footnote to the above, never heard of the sunroof not opening below a certain temperature, nothing in the handbook etc.

Just been outside, -3c on the display, opened sweet as a nut!

Regards
