1.6 16V PRIVELEDGE AIR BAG LIGHT AND STEERING NOT LOCKED

HI MY SERVICE LIGHT HAS JUST COME ON TOTALLY NORMAL IT IS DUE A SERVICE, BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON AS WELL AS STEERING NOT LOCKED IN THE MESSAGE WINDOW OF THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. CAN ANYONE HELP IN ANY WAY ? MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE. DARREN

I'm sure I've read about the airbag light coming on due to a poor connection under the drivers seat. Try searching the forum, you may even find a thread on the steering lock message too.

I've recently purchased a Megane dynamique 1.4 p, and within 3 months had problems with the coils above the spark plugs, problems with the air pressure in the accelerator or something cannot quite remember and now the same fault as you guys above. I was going to check out the fuses but had a look at the connecitons under the drivers seat and the air bag light and service light turned off.

Have you checked your battery? I'm non-technical at this sort of thing but when I was having car-starting problems, this did come up on my dash after I tried to start the car several times, I'm guessing I was eventually wearing the battery down.

do you year some "clicks" when you turn your wheel? does your steering locks when you take out your card?

no not that i can hear, when I turn the engine off and take the card out it sounds and feels like it is trying to lock but it doesn't. checked the connectors under the seat by advise and using your helpful link on another topic they all seemed fine however I am missing one of the plastic rails on the passanger side would this have any affect?
