Cleaning TDC Sensor / Throttle Body

Postby knuth » Tue Feb 05, 2008 11:00 am

Hi there,

Could somebody please take a few pictures of where these are located? If they do, I will make a video of myself cleaning them for further reference.

Thanks,
knuth

Have you got a Haynes manual or have access to one? It takes you through how to remove it in there.

TDC sensor replacement can be found with pictures on the Renault Forum site:

https://www.renaultforums.co.uk/how-arti ... tures.html

The engine featured in the thread is a Mk 1 1.4 but the layout is the same and you should have no problems identifying the appropriate parts.
1.4 Hatch, Ottoman Blue, 55 Reg, Dynamique

Removal/installation procedures and torques are in the manual pointed at in my message in Links section. It's in French with pictures. There exists also a Technical Note basically saying that in order to clean the throttle body you remove it, spray with carb. cleaner, wipe with a special tissue, then blow dry with air, then put it back... I never tried it, as my car is different.

throttle body 4 bolts 10mm attached to the end of your air filter pipework, careful of the o ring inside, clean with brake cleaner, an easy job if you are comfortable with spanners.

TDC sensor 2 bolts above the gearbox at 12 o clock, underneath the coolent pipes right hand side of engine block in a small gap on the gearbox, a big backet holds it in place a rainbow shape you will need a mirror to see this though.

Cheers
