Just got new disks and pads installed in my megane scenic and was wondering do i need to bed these in for a while before i try and emergency stop. Will there be like a coating on the pads and disks that need warn off before they are at their full potential? Forgot to ask the guys in the garage as i was to busy checking they hadnt smacked my wheels of a few kerbs.

Just drive it gently for the first few miles untill the surfaces mate together. Avoid hard braking if possible 'til then. 50 miles of normal driving should suffice then use as normal.
In practice it doesn't really matter, they will be perfectly ok but braking efficiecy is slightly reduced untill they bed in.

HTH.

In general new disks and pads do need a few hundred miles to bed in properly. try to avoid agressive/heavy breaking for a week or 2 to get the best out of them in the long term.
