Check Injection and the cars dog slow

Hi,
My wifes got a 2004 1.5 diesel megane and it seems to have lost loads of power. It feels like I'm towing the titanic when I drove it today.
Also I noticed when I was on the motorway if I went up a hill the check injection comes and service light.
Also when going up the hill (not a massive hill, it was on the m6) I had to change down into 4th just to try and get it up to about 60mph.
Any body any ideas and should I be really scared at what its going to cost?

Firstly welcome to the forum
My advice would be to get it to a garage ASAP. The Check Injection message can cover a multitude of faults?
Driving it in this state could be doing more damage?
Possible problems:
ECU fault, fuel injection problem, stuck EGR valve, duff Turbo.
We could go on guessing all day

Hi.
Thanks for the reply, I had a feeling it wasn't going to be straight forward.
Does any one have any advice of a good reasonably priced place to take it. i live near Warrington in the North West.
I don't want to have to pay the stealer prices if I don't have to!

manor garage in lightfoot street chester is where i can recommend. Independant and give good service. Used them last year for 1st time and service and valet was excellent. Not sure if you want to go that far from Warrington, they do courtesy cars or you could drop it off and spend the day wandering around "sunny" chester.

Have you tried Yellow pages for Diesel specialists in the Warrington area (Lucas or Bosch)
Had another thought; it could be your MAF (mass air flow sensor) if this is faulty the car will be very underpowered and run like a dog!

Thanks,
Is there a how 2 on cleaning the egr valve or is it a garage job.
I'm really stuck for cash (as is every one) cos of Christmas so if there is anything I can chaeck myself before spending a fortune that would be great.

Hi, I have a 2005 Megane Scenic 1.5DCi and have exactly the same problem with a loss of power when going up hill. Did you ever find a cure to the problem as I need to get mine fixed now.
Thanks, Simon.

I would investigate everything that I stated earlier in the thread. If you have no power then the ECU could have gone into limphome mode or your Turbo is not doing it's job, either way it's a garage job unfortunately
