card not detected

Hi, Our second key card no longer starts the car, the card is used regularly, it locks and unlocks the car no problem, I get 'card not detected' displayed though when you try to start the engine. Any suggestions appreciated.

Does this affect both cards or just the one?

Battery has nothing to do with the card reader, battery is for remote central locking, even when battery is flat the car will still start.
The card may have come into contact with a strong magnet and erased the settings, it will need to be reprogrammed.

Oh no a trip to the dreaded Renault Dealer network..
Have a good one and stay out of those puddles I believe are around in New South Wales at the moment..

Battery has nothing to do with the card reader, battery is for remote central locking, even when battery is flat the car will still start.
If you have hands free it has a hell of a lot to do with it if you don't put the card in the car reader...

Hi had the same problem on Christmas day, just cost me £600 for new computor and a new card, no assistance from Renault UK, the car is a 1.6 Dymanique 27k miles 04 plate. if you get sorted any cheaper please let me know we are still trying to get some recompense from Renault I know its out of warranty but hey 27kmiles and a major part fails!

Sh!t!! I think this may be the problem I have right now! Hope to God it doesn't cost me £600! My situation so far sounds identical to yours...
1.6 Megane Dynamic. 53 plate registered early 04. Last time I checked it was approaching 27K. Just a couple hundred off that I think. Out of warranty too.

Hi all,
Hope some can help me, just went to start my car (renault megane 1.4 16v rush) put the card in and pushed brake to start the car, would not start so tried the clutch still no joy keeps saying card not detected after a few tries it eventually started its happened twice today its never happened before.
any ideas? suggestions?
