hi, hope you all had a great christmas? wishing you all the best for 2008,
just a stupid little question i need answering if poss?
if an air con system is low or empty will it not engage the relay & compressor? my light lights on the button on dash but no cooler air/click from relay/compressor & no drop in revs happens? nationwide autocentres advised me the air con is running low? or empty?(has a leak?)
anyone confirm this?
cheers pals.

I doubt modern cars (esp diesel ones) will have a drop in revs as the aircon kicks in.

If the gas is low, yes the compressor will not engage.

If you have never had it looked at or regassed i would advice calling into kwikfit or the likes and get it checked out, my '04 was almost out of oil when i took it in, was told it could have been a nasty repair bill had i not got it refilled.

excuse my confusion, but what has low oil level got to do with the Air Con ?

He meant the oil in the air con system, not engine oil.

my air-con has stopped working so i took it to a garage they re-gassed it but the compressor still does not kick in, so i assume its knackered, as the garage didnt say much.

It could be the air-con gas pressure sensor at fault, quite a common problem

as Negotiator says, there is oil in the aircon that needs topped up too. Costly if it runs out and drys up.

my megane has been to kwik fit for an air con recharge & leak test? everything went fine,it took in oil & gas & holds it with no leaks (yipee)
but the compressor still does not 'kick in'?? so there was no charge for this as kwik fit was not able to improve by 10% (good service from k/f)
the mechanic advised checking all fuses/wiring/relays & sensors before taking it to dealers? i have no idea where the sensors/relays are on my car ( i've found the fuses, they are ok)
i have just bought a hayes manual to try & help me with this issue but it will not arrive till mid week, in the meantime is there any advice from any one out there? many thanks :-)

just go on to the renault uk website and you can do a search to find your nearest renault minute garage.

just out of curiosity does anyone know where the pressure sensor is located on the megane? i've had several people mention this could be at fault? cheers
