Hi, Yesterday when i was driving i got the STOP light on with the oil symbol. So i topped up using castrol diesel oil....the light went off and it seemed fine. Then my car got check injection and the SERVICE light. When i was goind down a bank it just cut out and would not restart. I cruised round the corner onto a flat and awaited rescue. 20mins when rescue arrived it fired up and got me home (4 miles). Then i drove round the block and again on incline (facing downwards) it cuts out again...Still showing SERVICE with injection message. Then wouldnt start. Left it over night and its started again still showing message though. It sound really rough when starting like being kicked into action...Anyone got any ideas? Ive already had the glow plug issue like a year ago and that never cut it out.....its also due a service (well a couple of thousand miles over)...please help

Should mention its the 1.9dci mark 2 version...03 plate 59000 miles

If it is an oil issue I really wouldn't risk starting the car because of the damage that can be done. You need to get it to a garage.

Mine is 1.9 DCI 53 reg and sorted service light and check injection by changing glow plugs. Easily done if you can. I didn't have all the cutting out problems though. But might be worth a try before going any further. Good Luck.

i have a similar problem which has turned out to be faulty injectors which are not cheap.the car will cut out when the bar pressure from the faulty injector/injectors drops below the specified bar.get a diesel speicialist to test the injectors, cost about 40 quid, before letting a dealer or garage loose on it as they usually just end up charging a fortune.hope this helps.

Ok, so Renault have told me that numbers 3 and 6 glow plugs were faulty which was the cause of my problem. Yesterday morning it wouldnt even start and the doors were unlocked. The battery had died and the doors had unlocked!! Is this usual practise? Never mind.
I also had a service done at the same time £190 and the found a load of issues.....
So:
£87.00 - 2 Glow plugs supplied and fitted
£190.00 Service
£350.00 Back brake discs and pads
£27.00 Tail light holder
£300.00 Nearside ball joint (which will require tracking rod done at the same time)
Oh and i need 2 new tyres, needless to say this aint getting done at vardys.....
So the main fault 2 glow plugs. Im sure ive already had number 3 changed last winter! And i had one changed in the summer...these plugs are the bain of my life at the moment!!!

thats ridiculous. a balljoint is no more than £10-15 and there is no way it can be that much in labour. even if you took your time you wouldnt take more than an hour to change it.
