check the latches.. there'll be a switch or something around it which isn't closing properly when the boot is closed.

Dunno how you'd manage to get it to a dealer since if my boot is open, the car won't start annoyingly.

I agree with you. If you have hands free it won't start until you place the card in the reader and then its fine once the bleeping stops.

in almost 3 yrs of ownership... my handsfree card has probably been in the card reader about 5 times if that.

Just had the same thing happen on my 225. I washed the car and now the boot thinks its open. Worst thing is it's sat on the drive and i cant lock it!

Make sure that there's nothing stuck in the latch, I once had a piece of fabric got caught in the latch and I had to rip it to get it out. Inadvertently I'd left a small piece in there, the boot operated ok but the car couldn't be locked.

Nowt stuck in there mate it just thinks the boot is open when it's not. I'm gonna have to read the book to see if it can be locked with this fault active.

just a quick question, with boot shut and car unlocked is the boot courtesy light on aswell, (drop the rear seats to check) which would definately point to sensor, which must be part of the locking mechanism, ahh technology i remember when it used to be a plunger you could press in

About not being able to lock the car, i had to open and close the boot, and each time you do this try the alarm, it somtimes takes 3 or 4 times of opening and closing of the boot before it will lock,
