Low card battery

Postby 72uoba » Wed Nov 21, 2007 4:03 pm

Hi there,

I notice the manual claims that the card will indicate when the battery in the keycard is running low. I've had my used Megane for 2 years now and suspect the batteries should be running out. So, can anyone confirm that the warning does appear or is it wiser to replace them in a preventative manner?

Cheers

I've had mine 4years now and never had that warning although i'm waiting. Card has been problem though and have to get it out of my pocket most of the time for it to open the doors or lock them. In the car though it recognises it no problem. Have noticed that my mobiles do affect it opening the doors must be the frequency. Always have to make sure they are in different pockets!!

It's not the card that indicates it, it is the display in the car. I've never seen it appear though, in either my Megane or Scenic. The Scenic one started getting a bit intermittent and had a reduced range no warning came up though.

the message appears on the dash console (like any other service message) when you start the car.
It's recommended to change the battery every 2yrs but i think you'll notice it's on it's way out by what range you can open the doors from.
You can get the batteries (CR2025) from the supermarket and their easy to change, so no excuses.

Sorry, I did realise that the message appeared on the dash and not the card - initial post wasn't very clear. The usage range of my cards doesn't seem to have diminished but I'll probably change the batteries anyway. I'm still curious about whether anyone has seen the fabled message, however. :)

i can confirm that the message does appear, i have only started getting it this last wk. message says "Replace Card Battery" and stays on the dash until you press the trip button.

My problem is, i have replaced the card battery it had a Sony battery in there so replaced it with a brand new Sony Battery (£2.50 incase ur wondering) but the sign wont go away now!!

Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

**as stated i have replaced the battery in the card**

How to get rid of it? Your the only person who has ever seen it. I'd get a photo 1st before getting rid of it. Just out of interest how old was the battery?
