Postby adrimo » Thu Nov 15, 2007 8:37 pm

hello guys

i have an 06 scenic and need to buy some coolant, i went in to halfords and they had the normal blue one and a red one, however when i looked into my engine bay the coolant is yellow this is the same as delivery as my car was bought new 6 months ago.

its now on min should i buy the yellow one from a renault dealer or top up with water.

where else can i get the yellow coolant?

thanks :-)

Don't Mix Coolants!

Go to your dealer an buy the correct coolant for your engine.

as IainMW says, don`t mix the coolant!
best place that i found was partco/brown brothers, bought some for mine when i did t/belt + w/pump.cost about £4 (ish) for couple of litres, just give them the reg + tell them it`s the yellow stuff!

I think I would be a bit concerned that a nearly new car is losing coolant.

It's not unsual for a car to use a bit of coolant

There's a song in there somewhere :pirate:

It's not going to change to slush !!, it's just different colours have different properties.
If you mix them then it's supposed to give you more wear to the internals (like the radiator).

Yeah, Megane suppose to have ELF Glaceol RX type D (green), at least the pertol engines, or ethylene glycol suitable for mixed metal engines. But do not mix Glaceol with monoethylene glycol, the system might get cloghed up and coupe heater might get broken. Got this from another forum. :D
