Grinding when reversing

When I reverse and then put my brakes on theres a loud grinding noise coming from the back, and sometimes from the front, is this a sign that the brake pads are due for renewal?? Or is this a fault Its defo not a normal squeaking brake sound.

Cars just coming upto 26000 miles, when did you all change your brake pads? As according to the service reports on my mums Scenic II 1.4 it had its brake pads changed around 28000 miles.

Any advice would be welcome

the grinding noise could be an indication of requiring new pads.

However I remember a few users complaining about rear brake noises when reversing. cure was to pull the handbrake up whlie reversing at moderate speed.

i have a similar problem with my meg. there are a load of posts on this site about the standard renault pads being "not so very good", (the politest way of putting it!) i had to change my pads and discs, but thats cos the previous ower didnt knowhow to look after the car. Grinding noise i think are the discs, mate.
