Dull Drone from rear of car, louder at speed

Postby jlscott » Wed Nov 14, 2007 6:05 pm

Since picking up our used Megane 3 door 1.5dci (100bhp) we've noticed a dull drone coming from the rear of the car at speeds of around 40mph or more. Around 60-70 it gets loudest. It doesn't appear linked to the engine as it remains when the clutch is depressed or I lift of the accelerator.

We had a local garage check things out and the wheel bearings and so forth were ok. I'm planning on taking it back to the garage where it was bought to have them check whilst its still under warranty.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hi jlscott,

sounds like wheel bearing, just had mine done cost about £70. However there are different types of bearings. Some require you to replace the whole disc set as well!!, sorry not greatly technical. Getting that done the part should cost around £80 then there is fitting.
I use Fifeauto Centre in Glenrothes and have always used these guys and they are ver good and trust worthy and don't bullsh1t you.
I'll say ......
