CAN'T OPEN CAR

Postby afisher » Tue Nov 13, 2007 11:14 pm

Recently my Megane Monaco will not always open or lock with the keyless card. Is this the battery in the car or card that's causing this? I can open the passenger door but cannot lock the driver door once open. It's getting to be a bit of a pain, especially when your in a hurry or it'slashing down. Help please!

Cheapest and easiest solution would be to try a new battery in the card

either your drivers door sensor is duff or it's the battery in the card.

I had the same issue.. drivers door wouldn't open but after a few secs it'd be fine on a rear door or something... and after x hours after work it'd work perfectly for a few more days...

try your second card.

Tried the second card to no avail. Must be the door sensor. Is there only one sensor though?

there is a sensor on every door,(the black thingy in the recess of door, behind the handle)
there is also a lock button on every handle.
if the card is locking/unlocking at least one door, then surely the card is not at fault??

OK two things to try: If your card is the handsfree variety then try using the buttons on the card to lock/unlock.

If I'm correct although the card is handsfree it will also work like a non-handsfree card, ie. using the buttons and putting it in the slot.

There are a number of antennas for the handsfree card, one in the dashboard, one in the centre console and one on the floor of the boot. So you may want to try at different positions around the car.

You can try opening the boot of the car, by pressing that button underneat the rear door lower end. Alternative is to use the spare key and unlock the door, behind a small plastic thingy on the handle.

I had the same problem, but that was beacause i left the lights switch on (no lights though) and that flattened the battery of the car, so rplaced the main car battery with a 62 amphour one. the existing was only 47 Ah. Check the connectors to the battery poles and that all wires are connected. If you remove the battery without any backup power through the cigarette socket (special tool), you will need to reset stuff like the window operation and the idle speed and so on by doing some procedures, ref. hte heynes manual for that.
