Hi,
I have a 14 month old 1.9dci 130 Megane. What would be a reasonable time scale to warm up.
At present on a normal day (15'C dry) it can take about 6 or 7 miles to reach normal temp. This would be 40mph for 1 mile and the rest doing 70 on the motorway (don't go much above 2500rpm when accelerating). If I drive round town then this figure may drop to about 5.5 to 6 miles.

warm up time
does sound a long time to me, could it be a thermostat stuck open, had one do it on an old vauxhall (i know and i admit it) I didn't notice until one cold winter day driving on the m25 with no heating and needle in the blue, until i pulled over and sat on tick over for 10 minutes to warm the car up..

Bumpy and full of coconuts.

Megane 1.9dci warm up time
Thanks
Will take the car to local dealers. Want to get it sorted before winter arrives.
Thought it was a bit slow to warm up, but temperature needle always went to same place no matter what the outside temperature was.
I have not had a diesel before. I understood diesel engines were physically bigger, ran at lower temperature and lower rpm so hence putting up with slower warming up time.

That's what it should do, then when it gets too hot the cooling fan comes on

Mine takes a good 3-4 miles to reach full temperature, always has even from new. My dad's 1.9dCi does the same.
It does sound like the stat might be a bit duff!
Driving like this won't do any favours to your EGR valve as it will gum up with soot, stick open and cook your Turbo
Give it some welly man!!!
