Car Starting Problems

Got an 04 plate 1.6vvt megane. On first start up each morning car starts but then revs dip and engine cuts out. After 2 or 3 atempts the car starts and idles ok.

Any sugestions

it might not be the solution, but it might need an update at the renault dealer. go onto the link below and click on the link at the bottom of the page which says 'Check your vehicle for any Recall or Quality campaigns'

most likly cause of hte problem is the TDC sensor

check this article for the video link i posted, if its the same, its the sensor

I have a Megane Dynamique 1.6 vvt 115. 53 model Have same problem - ignition works first time then revs just drop suddenly and car conks out - this happens when engine is warm as well as cold. Garage today told me it's the " throttle box " and that Renault were aware of a problem with the part and have changed the design since my model. Any point in moaning to Renault? If they were aware of a problem, why weren't all cars recalled?

Helen it sounds like mine has the same problem, its in the garage now. Mine starts ok most times but on the odd occasion i would push the button and it would just refuse to fire, i'd lift off the clutch and try again and it would fire up straight away and idle then cut out. But i narrowed this down, if i didn't touch the throttle it would idle ok, the moment i easied the throttle open, as soon as i hit 1500-2000rpm it cut out.
A real mare when cruising up to traffic lights and pulling away. Keep the revs high and it runs ok.... Garage said they had never had that fault before so that fills me full of confidence...
