boot wont lock

Just got a call from the wife.

Not being there I can't say for certain what she has done but these were her words to me.

She said she opened the car via the key whilst accidentally pressing in the push release of the boot this am , then pressed the key again for some reason but now the boot won't lock, the car works normally, starts and the other doors are fine, but the warning light on the dashboard that tells you whilst you are driving a door ( in this case the boot) is not lock flashed on and off and did not come on as it should do as a warning light.

She panicked and then got the bus to work and I will look at it tonight.
Before I take it to a Renault garage and get charged, is there something simple like a fuse gone or similar I can do?
Car locked perfectly fine last night before anyone asks.
Thanks
Frank

She was probably looking for an Easter egg (hidden software features activated by an unusual combination of keys) and found a bug (a hidden software fault activated by an unusual combination of keys)... Don't blame Renault for this as the problem of verification of software is known as unfeasible due to its NP-complete nature ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NP-complete ).

It looks like the boot became "locked" in the unlocked position. Did she try to unlock it under similar conditions while holding the boot button pressed? You can't cause more harm, so try all possible combinations of locking, unlocking, deadlocking and holding/releasing the boot button. If it does not help, disconnect the battery. Another idea: I don't remember the details, but there should be a way to move the mechanism of the lock mechanically from the inside of the car.

Hi Frank

Had the same problem, before you book your car into the dealer have a "fiddle" with the button (under the rubber boot), Mine had stuck and a quick mess around cured it. Worth a try........
