HELP

Following a 36000 mile main dealer service, I have been advised that the offside track rod end requires replacement. I was also advised that this wasn't covered by the dealer warranty as it was down to wear & tear, and the dealer has quoted me £300 for a repair. The car is 4 years old and in good condition - could this be premature wear & tear / defective parts? :(

Firstly welcome to the club

At 4 years old and 36000 miles it's not uncommon for trackrod ends to go but £300 to replace it
I would not say it's defective parts particulary at this age.

If I were you I would find a good independant garage to do the work for you, probably at half the price. In fact you could have saved yourself a lot of money buy having the car serviced buy a decent independant garage instead of a Renault dealership.

Food for thought in the future!

Thanks Iain,

Yes, I know main dealers aren't cheap but I had to get it serviced there to maintain the warranty (or should I say 'so-called' warranty?!).

Thanks for your help.

Dave

As I understand it you can have your car serviced at any VAT registered garage and as long as all service items are attended to and genuine Renault parts are used then your warranty is not affected
