Intermittent Throttle Buzz/Viberation

Hi, the throttle pedal on my nearly 2 year old 1.5 DCI (106) has developed a buzzing sensation through the throttle pedal at ceratin revs which varies in intensity...some days it is worse than others. The problem came on after having a fuel pipe fitted (return pipe) under warranty. It's been back to the local Main Dealer several times and had a new engine mount, injector pipe and the engine settled on its mounts. It went back again last week, but it was having one of its much better days and the head technician said it could just be a sooty EGR valve and suggested I gave the car a really good long run and drive it hard at high revs to clear it out. He did put his foot down when I went out on test with him and alot of sooty smoke came out of the exhaust. I do 99% of my driving in town. The problem was back again quite bad tonight and now I am beginning to feel embarrased about taking it back again to the dealer. The trouble is my foot gets sore from the buzz when it's at it's worse.

Does anybody know whether the latest comments about the EGR valve sounds feasible?

I am really at my wits end now and beginning to wonder whether it is me that's playing up rather than the car and perhaps it would be easier to trade it in!

Thanks

I can't see the link between the EGR and the buzzing you are experiencing.
If the EGR was clogged up then you get other running problems. The old Italian tune up is a good thing as it will clear out all the s**t in the exhaust system.
I do a lot of urban driving but tend to give a bit more welly when I can (observing speed limits obviously ;-P )
Diesel's do need to be driven hard from time to time to clear things out.

It sounds like something is transfering the engine vibrations to the pedal?
Are you sure your top engine mounting has not failed?

Don't feel embarassed about going back to your dealer, you have a problem with the car which needs to be fixed. You need to be very open and honest with them but also firm and diplomatic until the problem is resolved. Don't be fobbed off
