Only those F9Q engine built prior to June 2003 have a reputation for problems. Later ones are OK. There will be the odd failure here and there but I doubt any more than any other make of turbo diesel.

Regular oil changes using good quality synthetic oil combined with a good blow out now and again should keep it trouble free.

What do you mean bby a good blow out.

I have a pre 93 FQ9 turbo engine, only 45k on the clock. but I remember that many did fail.

Thnks for the advice, now my car is 180000 kms and crank shaft packup again after a major repair to crank new bearins at 170000..
now i donot know if i shoul repair it again or trade in to other car.
Every body tells me now these engines F9Q had problems, renault in France sold the engine lot to a Ducth company that are selling them as overhauled, but infact they are bad new engines...they reckon wont last more than 100000. :x
any comments??
