Hi All
Whilst in a long queue of traffic,i switched the engine off,when i tried to restart it,nothing,just lots of lights flashing on dash,petrol guage needle going up to full but no noise from under the bonnet.
Called the RAC who got me home and told me i needed a new battery,so purchased new battery but still nothing.
Judging by past posts was wondering if it could be starter motor,if it is can it be DIY. On quick look i couldn't even see bolts holding it on.
Appreciate help please as at mo. am now car less.

Someone wrote a post about a big ass 300amp fuse near the battery blowing. All the auxiliary stuff is powered through another set of fuses. The starter has it's own (apparently). Have a trawl through the forum in case this is the cause of your problem.

Have checked fuse it seems ok.
Put voltmeter on solenoid on starter motor,on small wire peg I think (its difficult to see) and got no reading.
Would thought i should have got 12 volts.

You do not state whether your car is push button start or conventional turn the key start (I'm not an expert, they may all be push button like mine).

If it's a key one, I assume you had an assistant turning to 'start' whilst you checked the connection? I know this is obvious stuff - also are the questions, was the new battery fully charged, are the connectors to the battery corroded, and is it a negative earth car?

I'm not a Megane expert - but I did a lot of work on old style (simple electronics) cars such as pug 106 GTis etc. They were often common problems. I hope it's something simple, otherwise you could be facing a large bill.

Others here will have more informed opinions.

What exactly was flashing? I hope, it did not include the immobilizer LED...

Unfortunately but luckly it was a stupid error by myself.
I put on new battery but left off small wire that connects to neg. battery terminal.
Put that on and now its fine.
