hey fellas... right does anyone have any clue whats going on with my megane?... a few weeks ago i noticed that when i was hitting 1500rpm i would get an awful scrapey whirring noise from under the bonnet, the car doesn't have to be moving even at standstill if i rev upto 1500rpm the whirring noise will begin and if i hold it for a while a totally different noise will kick in, more like a loud drilling kind of noise... its got me stumped... im maybe thinking either the water pump or a pulley on its way out but ive never really head anything like it!

anyone had similar?

1500 rpm you say? I'm afraid the dephaser pulley on the inlet camshaft is on its way out...

I've not read of Dephaser problems on 05 Meganes, but I'm no expert.

Check under the bonnet to see if anything is vibrating. Check all pipes, cables, and bits of trim just to see if anything is buzzing at around 1500rpm, you will need somebody to sit in the car and hold the revs at 1500 rpm (obviously) just be careful, we don't want any bits of your body becoming loose and detached
The metal aircon pipe (top left near the suspension mount) used to touch the body and vibrate at about 1800 rpm on my Megane until I operated on it (small piece of pipe lagging fixed it)

Other than that I'd take it to a dealer seeing as it's still under warranty
