Cutoff on starting/rough at low revs

When I sart my 53 Meg Auto it cuts off after 10 seconds. If within the 10 secs I manage to get it into drive and accellerate away it does not cut out again until I stop and restart the engine. It is very rough at speeds below 30 mph.

I am going to take it in to the Dealer. Someone has mentioned to me about some sort of recall? involving setting up the injectors on the computer? Does this sound right as the symptoms seem to be the same.

Thanks

Gordon

1.6vvt per chance?

Coils, TDC sensor or Dephaser Pulley if it is?

Thanks everyone. Yes it is the 1.6VVT. Doesn't feel like coils as I had that problem on my earlier V reg megane (do I ever learn!)

Have taken it in today and they are looking at it. They say that anyway there is a recall - something to do with setting up the injectors on the computer?!

Luckily I have an AA 5 star extra warranty for the 4th year as it was 3 yrs old last Sept. Glad I had that included in the orig deal when I purchased it.

Will let you know the outcome when I get it back

Regards

Keep us informed Gordon

Which dealer are you using, seeing as you are from Lancs?

Starting/cutoff at low revs

Well everyone. Reporting back. They had the car for a whole day. They initially did something which did not cure it - don't know what. So left the car as they said they could not complete the next phase until engine temp had dropped below 80?

Believe that they completed a 'recall' something to do with resetting the computer on the injectors? (I am not a techie). Also believe that they did something with a TDC sensor.

Anyway, it goes ok now - in fact the pickup on accelleration is improved and it wasn't bad before for an Auto.

That's good news :tu

As soon as you said it was at Arnold Clarkes I thought "oh oh here we go" as they don't have the best reputation but, fair do's to the Wigan branch as they appear to solved your problem.

Hiya,

glad they sorted this for you - is the recall just on the 1.6VVT?

Not sure, but believe so and a particular problem on the 53 plate.
