17" alloy wheels

Postby sporttourer » Thu Jul 26, 2007 4:21 pm

How are pepole getting on with the 17" alloy wheels?

It has been quiet and I have seen a new megane sporttourer but it has 17 " alloys?

Should it put me off?

lol.... well this may shock you they were whanli tyres , kind of between buget tyres and middle priced....Although I still have a full set of toyo tyres , got at a good price but in the garage cant be bothered to change them , not really any need to either.... :)

The 17" are in my opinion the best choice for Megg.
I use DEZENT F 17”, 7J with Fulda tyres and they are great. Look not to heavy but strong and handling is better than former 15" .
The tyres are Fulda Crisalp excelero 17” x 45 x215 and combine good quality with resonable price.

I prefer the 16's. 17's make the ride too harsh and they wear quickly. My fronts only last 16K and I don't drive very hard.

Woody I would agree each and every car is set up the way the care makers THINK it will perform best or work better with the car, I didnt like the 17's myself so opted for the 18's they are the dog's...........you will get a diffrent ride with low profile tyres, albeit road noise and so on , but I prefer my 18's and I personally thing it is alot smoother and handles better, downside is WATCH OUT FOR THE POTHOLES :(

NO problems with my 17"s

Front tyres replaced from new a 4 months back after 31k miles
(3 yrs) and I'm getting the back 2 changed this weekend at 34.5k.

Even wear on both sets right across the board - sport contact 2's
again - I like them and can get then at a good price.

Regards
