yes,i fill it up when light comes on,then i get 400-450 miles, then light is on again.my old focus tddi was better on fuel,450 miles on a tankful (10 gallon tank)around town,540ish when on a motorway run. and that had done 110,000 miles.
made the wrong decision to sell it

My dad has just achieved 63mpg in his 1.9dCi Sports Saloon on a trip down to Norfolk (about 230 miles, observing speed limits  )
This is the most he's ever got out of it. Normally it's about 42-44mpg on mixed driving, so he's well chuffed with this new figure :D

He's there for the next 2 weeks, and is going to try and improve on my record of 66mpg which I achieved whilst on holiday there last year.

Just spotted this topic. I have a 54 plate 1.6 VVT Sport tourer and on a recent trip from Glasgow to Oban I got 52.5 mpg. Earlier this year on a weeks holiday to Lossiemouth (up near Elgin for those who don't know) I managed 50.3 MPG over 800 miles so I am very pleased with that level of consumption. On shorter journeys its not so good but anything over 5 miles or more should still be in the 40s.

1.9 dCi - One full tank covered 620 miles. Dash says 52.0 MPG. Average speed: 39.9 MPH.

What's the calculation to work actual MPG... I have the receipt somewhere telling me how much I filled up with.

My 1,6 petrol phase I had result 6,8l/100km that is 42,56 m/gal on a long distance ( about 900 miles).
City average is 8,7l/100km that is 32,34 m/gal.

Number of litres (divided by) 4.546 = Number of Gallons

Distance (miles) traveled (divided by) Number of Gallons = MPG

Right you lot, beat this !!!!! lol

Started car this morn. trip said 525 miles since fillup & fuel guage showed just over 1/4 tank.Left kings lynn & travelled to norwich, diss, hadleigh, sudbury, bury st edmunds, ely, & back to kings lynn.Bear in mind each town mentioned included calling on customers to carry out windscreen repairs. (ie:stop/start & shunting around yards)
I did not drive like a granny,in fact i often exceeded the speed limit(i know...no preaching i'm old enough to know better !!) & when i got home the trip read 716 miles (the fuel warning light came on at 711 miles showing 72 miles left).Filled up & fuel consumption, worked out on paper was 57.9 mpg, computor showed 54.7 mpg.
These figures are not a one off,i achieve similar results nearly every fill up.

My 04 plater has now got 58750 miles on clock,so it's well loose(like it's owner !!),& has been more economical since fitting 'p box' & free flow air filter. Because of the extra torque, less throttle & revs are needed = more economy.

regards, martin..
