My Megane is top dog!
It is a 1.5, turbo diesel, 6 gear with cruise control (privilage).
Its average is 59mpg -
I've done 76mpg at best and thats driving through urban areas, as soon as I drive on motorways if i do 70mph it goes down to 60mpg but if i do 82mph = 130kph then it goes down to 52-55mpg.

I also use Shell V-Power Diesel only which does help alot.
I have had 830miles from a full tank.

Not bad eh?

does v power really make a difference?

1.9dci - 45mpg, never tried to maximise its mpg but would have thought 50-55 easily possible

Howdy, first post here.
Just got 07 1.4 Extreme and average is 28.9mpg which is cack. Much thirstier than previous 1.4 Rover 25. (although the megane is a much better drive), any tips for improving my fuel consumption? Mainly drive 8 miles per day, top speed 40-50mph. Any suggestions appreciated

As far as I recall 62mpg was my highest and that was sitting behind a lorry, doing 55mph afetr my bumper smashed when I ran a partridge over!

Hi
My first post here also.
I bought a 04 1.4 Dynamique in Oct last year. Since then I've been averaging about 32-33 MPG, with at worst 30-31 and at best up to 35 MPG with careful driving, not heavy footed or anything. Mostly town driving of distances up to 8-10 miles with a short dual carriageway stretch.
This average has been slightly better since I replaced the pencil type ignition coils, 4 for £40 on e-bay, due to a faulty coil on number 3, I replaced them all due to it being a common problem.
Even with careful driving, I don't think their that economical, small engine lugging a heavy car I think.

I imagine if your only driving 8 miles a day that the engine isn't even getting a chance to warm up properly.

It may be worth seeing what type of consumption you may get on a longer run. I also double check my MPG when I fill up, though the computer MPG does give the same average as my fuel figures.

I do agree that the Megane is a far more comfortable car than I expected to drive.

my wifes 05 megane cabroliet 1.6 petrol averages 30mpg all urban

my 1.6 scenic 1.6 auto 57 averages around 28 all urban. we both only work a couple of miles from home

the best i got for a run was 38mpg

i think these are poor but im paying for the comfort i suppose, im happy to pay as i only average around 5k miles a year and so does the wife

Just to say my 1.6 16v '03 spend around 24 mpg (9,5 l/100 km). And that is if it is combined town with freeway.

On just freeway 1600 km trip it did around 31 mpg (7,5 l/100 km).
How the h... do you all manage to do it better than that? I tried without accelerate hard and break late, and more or less same result.

Just town driving it goes to 20 mpg...

Any advice?

Got 82.6 tonight on a 12 mile mixed run. I nearly pissed myself laughing when the range gauge exceed 1,000 miles. I drove only in 6th and was very light with the right foot.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!
