Problem with your Megane? Can't find an answer? Workshop manuals and technical notes are in here.

Scraping sound coming from front left, during a tight right.

Postby pmcguire » Mon May 28, 2007 11:31 am

Eg in a supermarket, sounded like the exhaust had popped out and was scraping along the floor. Luckily? this isn't the case, it only comes if I do a 90 degree turn to the right with a little bit of speed (slow turns make no noise)

Wheel bearings? Is it dangerous?

thanks for any help.

(oh the car is a Megane sport tourer with 36,000 KM and it's a 1.6 manual)

Wheel bearing(s) 100%.

You should have it replaced, the noise tells you that its bound to seize soon...

The car should be put on a ramp and both front wheels should be spun by hand in order to check which bearing produces the noise...

Ok thanks for the tip, I have booked it in to the garage tomorrow morning.
I noticed that if I drove over a small pothole or something the noise was terrible (not to mention embarrasing).

Let's hope it isn't too expensive.
