megane 1.4 poor acceleration !!

Dear all...

While driving back home tonight I noticed that all of a sudden
when trying to accelerate the car felt like it was misfiring, running
rough etc... etc...

There was no warning mesage on the display so I managed to
make it home, only a couple of miles.

When pressing the accelerator through the gears the car would slowly
move on but was a bit jumpy as it was going to cut out - can anyone
help ??

The car is just over 3 years old and has 32k on the clock

Ignition coils - one or more of them have failed.

Thank you for your reply - I was wondering if it could be a coil,
as yet I have been lucky enough to not have any go on me yet
but know plenty of people who have have nothing but hassle with
these things - I guess I have just been lucky (so far).

Will check my extended warranty paperwork first...

You have 2 options - pay a hefty amount of cash to Renault and buy Sagem coils that will probably fail again soon, or search eBay for Beru coils at 1/3 of the price...

You can get Beru coils for 40 euros each here in Greece, perhaps you can get even better prices online...

Car booked into dealer to be looked at in a couple of days, the Renault
Extended Warranty I took out 2 months back should cover this.

I had a 52 plate 1.4 16v last year round May time and the very same thing happened while my boyfriend was driving it!!! He thought he had broken it big time!!

Booked it into Renault and it turned out to be a coil - they very kindy replaced all of them FOC under warranty!!! What a result!!!
