Airbag/Service Indicator Light

Postby northernjon » Fri Apr 06, 2007 3:55 pm

Hello again
My Airbag and Service light is Permanently illuminated on my dash.
If I adjust the seat then the lights go out, but a few seconds later they illuminate again.
This fault also seems to unlock the doors as I drive too.
Just wondered if anybody knows whats wrong before I go to the dealers.

The Renault fix is to replace both front seat airbag looms... This is due to "microcuts" on the under seat connector..
However you can just try unclipping the connectors and then re attaching them. This may work for a while..

Note that I replaced both of mine but the light has now started to come on again depending on seat position.. So a wiggle it has to be..

Thanks for the advice, a wiggle of the connecter did the trick.

Does anybody know how to actually turn these off?

I know in other cars you can play about with the mileage/reset button and you can turn the service light off. But anyone know about Meganes?

R3ALIST, do you mean the little flashing spanner which indicates you are due for a service? If so this can be reset

Or if you mean the light at the bottom with the word SERVICE I think this just goes off when the problem is fixed, or if not it can be turned off by being reset on the computer at renault.

Or you can buy yourself one of these https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0104297027 and reset the service light and error codes - obviously not recommended unless the fault has actually been fixed first because that would just be equivalent to doing a Del Boy and taking the bulb out

Andy,

the ebay link to the product you purchased, is it fully compatible with the Megane? As in, did you have any trouble getting it to communicate with the car, or did you have to buy a different connector or anything?

Thanks

Phil, I just installed the drivers and several pieces of software that came with it, plugged it in and it worked. I've only used it to read the error codes but can confirm that it had no problem reading them. Works under Vista too which is a plus lol.

I only intend to use it for diagnostics - mainly for working out which ignition coil to replace when the warranty expires.
