Hi - not wanting to visit my dealer, does anyone know how to self-diagnose a stuck shut panoramic sunroof?

Possibly the switch has packed up. Wriggle the switch from side to side - see if that helps.

Mines packed up too, it needed resetting every time it was used before it would work, and now its stopped completely. Does anyone know what the most common fault on these panoramic sunroofs ? Is it the switch or motor ? Fortunately I have a small amount of warranty left, so its been fixed next week. I suspect its just the switch at fault.

Just had the car into the dealers for the panoramic sunroof fixing, they state that it may be the switch or maybe the motor, so they want to replace both at a cost of £600. Hopefully the warranty company will pay, but awaiting confirmation. The problem is that its an intermitent fault. But only got 1 month warranty left, so need it fixing ASAP. Anyone else experienced this ?

Well, I feel like I am talking to myself, but anyway here goes, for the benefit of anyone else having this problem !
Dealers have stripped down the sunroof and it appears that the motor is at fault, so they're replacing it under third party warranty, apparently £600 in total. However, I still can't understand why when I reset the sunroof it works ok, surely if the motor was broke it wouldn't work at all ?
Anyone out there shed any light on it, as I'm still not convinced it is going to solve the problem ?

How do you reset the motors on the sunroof? I have had mine to the dealer twice to have them reset, they say that you need to connect the car to the computer to have the motors re-align themselves. Is this correct or are they just bull-s***ing me? Is there a method of resetting these without the expense of having to go to the dealer?

Hi,
I have tried this and nothing happens. A couple of days ago I tried the sunroof, it moved a fractional amount then stopped. When this has happend previously I have taken it to the dealer to get sorted, and 5 mins later they return the car with sunroof working. This costs me £25 a time.
It is a panoramic roof on a 03 plate 2.0vvt Megane Dynamique. The switch is a dail type with 3 positions on it.
Thanks
Michael

Hi freddymercurystwin
Sorry to be a bother, but should I be hearing the motor moving when doing this. I have tried but can't hear anything. Absolutely nothing is happening.

To initialise the motor:
- position the switch (1) in the closed position,
- press and hold the switch (at least two seconds)
and keep pressed: The motor moves into stepper
mode then goes down to several centimetres,
- release the switch,
- press the switch again within 5 seconds,
- hold the switch, the sunroof opens then closes in
the sliding position,
- the motor is initialised,
- set the switch to « stop ».
In some instances, only the first three stages are required
for initialisation.

It is important to wait for at least 3 seconds
before operating the control again.
Thank you so much! My sunroof packed in the begining of last summer and I'd finally had enough of it! Searched for some suggestions and it seems that on the whole of the internet, you are the only one who knew about this cure. So I say it again, thank you, you have saved me from uncomfortably hot drives this summer.
