Hi to all!
I'd like some help from the experts. For the last month I have noticed that the front suspension of my car makes more noise than it used to. The car is 19 months old and has 33500 kilometres (about 30000 of them on the motorway).
The feeling of the suspension has been the same all the time, with regards to handling, body roll etc. and I am sure of that because I usually find myself cornering very fast (so I would have noticed a significant drop of performance of the absorbers). The car has never been in an accident and I tend to avoid most of the pothols - bear in mind that I ride on 195/65/15 tyres.
And I explain myself: in the city, whenever I go over some small bump, or small pothole and precisely the moment the shock absorbers start to compress, there is a low thump, not loud, but I am sure that it wasn't there before. Or if it where, it was hardly noticeable. This can only be heard with the music off and the windows down.
It's true that I didn't have the absorbers checked, but is there any possibility that it could be something else, like the absorber mounts, silent blocks, suspension frame or engine mounts?
Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Experiencing exactly the same problem. however in my case after having the car brought to the dealer (steering blocking defect, guarantee)
they decided to change some parts on the suspension (also under guarantee).
I asked them why would they change those parts, as to my understanding warranty covers defects and not usage.
They say those parts were worn, and are covered.... I let them changed them.
After that the steering felt good (it was all ok before) but somehow the "new" feeling came back, the steering is like a little firmer/tighter.
Now I have to go back to let them fix it.

Re: Noisy front suspension
My wife's 2007 Megane Cabriolet developed a nasty creaking when turning the steering wheel while stationary and there were some loud clunks too. Took it to a garage and they diagnosed the strut bearings popping apart and replaced them. Much moola.... .
Noise still there. Took it back to them and they sent it to a steering specialist. They estimated much more moola to strip and repair the steering rack, depending on what they found. so I took the car to a steering brake and suspension specialist I had used for a 4x4 I use to own. He wasn't convenient to where I live now or work, but..... He listened for 5 seconds and said "it's the subframe".
The Renault front end is a subframe made up of a number of interlocking plates. If they work loose then the movement of the steering forces them to ride up over one another and then click back as the wheel is turned the other way. Stupid design, he says. Far less moola and 5 hours of his work later the car is silent. I didn't need to replace the strut bearings
Hope that this helps someone else with similar creaking and clunking when turning the wheel with the car stationary or moving at a very slow crawl.
