Oil change
Hi I've got a Renault Mégane MK2 2006 and need to do a oil change and filter, how much oil do I need and will 5w 40 be ok
Re: Oil change
I used 5W 30 but only because it was on offer at Halfords, 5W 40 should be fine. 4.8 litres is what the book says for my 1.6 but I used 4 and then monitored it and put it a bit more in a couple of weeks later. Cheapo Halfords filter was good for the job and a square plug tool, although I have seen people adapt tools for undoing it. I would get a new washer from the dealer, its not worth the leak hassle and good luck with the daft plastic under body engine cover and its rusty bolts.

Re: Oil change
Ok thanks,do you mean a washer for the oil filter.?would you put new sump plug in.
Re: Oil change
Washer for the sump plug. There isn't one for the filter as I recall. Do not over tighten it, I used a filter strap to remove because it was so tight. Dab a bit of oil around the edge to ensure a good seal.
