I am planning on replacing the inner joint on my 2006 1.5 dci steering rack. The parts got delivered today and the look simple enough to replace except the inner ball joint as no flat spots on it for a wrench to get a purchase on it, is there a special tool i need to get as there does not seem enough space to get a set of Mole Wrenches on it and move the wrench.
please don,t say the rack has to be removed first.

Re: steering rack
Hi,
I replaced mine about 2 weeks ago, it may be possible to get some grips in but will be tight. I bought a tool for inner tie rods from amazon that fits on the end of a 1/2 inch socket they are around £10-15. I would also recommend some thread lock when installing the new ones.

Re: steering rack
thanks for the quick reply, Threadlock I have. I have ordered some new Mole Grips with a curved inner jaw I am hoping these will help..could you post a link to what exactly you bought from Amazon....I presume the tie-rod just unscrews from the Steering Rack but due to threadlock its hard to move.
thanks again
thanks again
