Megane 1.5dci 106 2006 new clutch won't disengage

Postby Alsnew » Sun Jul 14, 2019 11:44 pm

Replaced master cylinder and slave cylinder, while doing so I replaced with new clutch, took days to bleed in the end I purchased easybleed kit ..pedal is working fine
But car won't go into gears when engine running
Only if I start it in gear already .....
Fingers on new clutch plate there are far more ..so I'm wondering could that be the problem or maybe over tightened bolts ? Or possible I've put clutch in backwards ?
Any help would be appreciated ive spend a while week already trying to sort this ..3days of that bleeding

I'd had a similar situation as yourself but I lost the clutch pedal altogether, changed master cylinder, the clutch and slave cylinder had only been changed less than 6 months previously, eventually I had to change all the piping, as in the pipework is a big round and fairly flat component, it took sometime before I established what this was, its actually a damper to stop vibration between the engine and the clutch pedal.
There is no way you can take it apart so in the end I changed all the plastic pipe from the master cylinder, which included this component, fairly expensive but end of problem.
I changed the master cylinder as I thought that was the problem, but was money I needn't have spent at that time.
Renault technical were very unhelpful and told me to take it to their dealer, who wanted £80 to find the problem.

Forgot to say the vibration damper is only fitted to Diesels, and I also have the 1.5 DCI.

Hopefully you have sorted this problem. I have just had the same problem when changing my clutch, but using an ezibleeder is not the way to do it. The problem is air in the line and it took me a few attempts including using a syringe, but managed it in the end. My problem was air getting in through the connector which needed to be opened to allow bleeding to take place. Make sure not opened too much so as to allow air to enter the system.

Using an ezibleed kit is the simplest way of bleeding a clutch. Every clutch I've done I've used the ezibleed with no problems whatsoever. People tend to struggle to bleed the megane because of the two clips on the hydraulic pipe that connects to concentric slave cylinder inside the gear box. One clip holds the hydraulic line in place where as the other you undo to pull the hose back slightly to bleed. Once bled, push hose back in position and push clips down to secure.
