Clutch Replacement.

Postby q292u » Tue Jun 04, 2019 2:17 pm

I've just done another 650+ mile round trip from Teesside to South Wales to pick up my daughter from Uni..
Driving a Megane with a dicky clutch. It's fine going up hills and stuff in low gears. Even stalls if you get it wrong.
BUT. Accelerating in 4th/5th, I have to VERY careful, as it starts to slip. The journey back, with the car loaded to the gills with stuff was a pain the the arse. No way could I get 70 out of it up hills.

So. I need a new clutch. My local service place quoted me £500. I reckon that was the "Go away" price. It was clear they don't want to work on a Megane. So I put a request on WhoCanFixMyCar.com .. so far I have £405 (Campbells) and £286 (TMC) quotes.. Am I right in thinking that TMC is Boro Cars?

Anyone have any suggestions in the Teesside (preferably Redcar/Middlesbrough) area?
