air con condenser

Hi, had airccon system degassed 4 years ago when condenser needing changing. Am now finally getting around to changing it and regassing system. Read on this forum that on the 1.9dci the ECU shuts the power to the compressor when it detects low gas to protect it would this be the same on our 1.5 DCI 2006 so would we need Renault clip to reactivate or can I just replace condenser , regas and hope for best?Thanks for any advice
