Vibration Through Car Body and Steering Wheel

Postby rhyscthomas » Fri May 03, 2019 12:51 pm

Car in question 2008 Megane MK2 1.5dci

For a few months I have issues with vibration felt through the car and steering wobble, particularly around 60-70 mph It fades out at higher speeds and can be felt sometimes at lower speeds when braking slowly. I have had things like balancing checked, re-checked and on the advice of a mechanic the offside driveshaft changed. I still have the issue. In the last two months, the following has been changed

Nearside Outer CV Joint
Offside Driveshaft - complete change on mechanics advice
Both Front Tyres (Last Week)
Both front discs and pads (This Week)
Nearside Outer Tie Rod End (I split the rubber boot changing CV Joint)

The problem still persists but doesn't seem so violent through the steering wheel since the disc changes

To add, there are no obvious issues with suspensions struts and control arm bushings and lower ball joints seem ok. The upper ball joints on the arms are free of splits or obvious signs of wear but one side does seem to have more play than the other.

Am i missing anything? what would be classed as excessive wear to the upper ball joints?

Your help is appreciated. Thank you
