OBD2 scanners/readers

Postby beverley101 » Thu Mar 28, 2019 3:54 pm

Any idea which of the dozens of readers/scanners will be OK for a Megane Scenic '06 ? They all seem to fit everything from 1996 but some apparently do not.
Thank you for any help.

Renault can clip covers everything others don't... So I suggest buy that for about £100 worth it.

the genuine can clip cost a lot ,there are two types of clone out there the green(board) and the gold(board)Buy the the gold version its the best quality and can do everything like the genuine one.

I am on my third can-clip.It is impossible to run an old Renault without. They fail after a year when the warranty is up or so it seems. I have tried both types and they both failed. The last one I bought is working OK but I note from ebay that the seller has been withdrawn so I won't even have a year's warranty! Curses. I obtained Renault-com (Superscan) and installed that (bluetooth connection). Too early to reach a conclusion at the mo but some trouble getting and keeping connections to the DCU. It is not so comprehensive as can-clip. It showed no faults at all whereas can clip showed several that were stored. The stored faults did not affect the running but gave an indication of what had been faulty. I must say that I have not found can clip easy to use with the mk 3 as it uses a different system (bornier 3). Must try the superscan on it. Luckily the mk3 is far more reliable than the mk2 !
A "genuine" version of can clip would cost almost two grand!
In the early days I tried other code readers including elm327 but they were useless. Probably because my 2003 car is not OBD compliant. As Drewster 1978 said, can clip covers everything!
