Low battery light and two coils gone

Postby Rodrosher » Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:33 pm

Hi everyone I'm new to the forum.
Megane 11convertible 1.6 vvt 2008 87000 miles

On sunday morning after driving for about 8 miles i hear a beep looked at the dash and it said stop low battery and the battery light was on.
So i pulled over checked the belt and battery connection and the alternator connection all seemed fine.
Restarted and no lights on
Drove another 3-4 miles and while sat at the lights the idle dropped to about 650 rpm then 20-30 seconds later dropped again to about 450-500 rpm

Managed to get home with engine light flashing and then the beep again and battery light again and message low battery. Put it on an OBD11 reader came back with the code for multiple misfiring.

So i removed the electric plug for No 1 coil started her up no difference on idle
Carried out the same process one at a time for each cylinder and found No 1 and No 4 were misfiring.

My questions are can two coils or spark plugs fail at the same time
or are the coil / spark plug failure link to the low battery warning lights
Thanks Rod

Id charge the battery 1st then retry the 2 coilpacks
I had no1 coil pack playing up and diagnostic told me this

Seems coil pack faults daisy chain along
Right to the oxygen sensors
Due to miss fire

Hi thanks for your reply
The battery seems fine plenty of charge spins the engine over and over no problems.

What i have done is bought 4 new cheap coils make lemark and 4 spark plugs ngk from motor parts direct.

My plan is to fit the new coils and plugs to see what happens.
If she blows a coil again or plug I've only lost £30 to £120
If it's all okay I'll change the coils and plugs to Bosch
