Rear ABS Fault Caused by totally rotten ABS Mount plates
Have had the rear discs and pads changed thinking it would likely solve the rear ABS sensor fault, only to find it is where the sensor sits is the problem:
Renault want £1300 for a whole new rear axle (ridiculous). I have searched far and wide but cannot seem to find these simple mounts to be available....
Does anyone have any ideas what to do, this is unbelievable, for such a simple problem....

The problem with that is all the scrapyards want to sell you the plate with the axle, as it renders the axle worthless to them without it.....
The other issue is that how many scrapped ones out there will also be in bad condition ? hmmm, fair point though.

You could try this...

Or try fabricating some sort of bracket to hold the sensor.
Cheers.

I bought new bearings and discs on Ebay for about £60. Came complete with new mountings for ABS sensor

Replacement front wheel bearings come with a pressed steel ABS sensor mounting plate that has to be fitted into the hub before the bearing is fitted, but I have never seen the rear disc / hubs come with the rear ABS mounting plates?

Try harder, I'm sure if you put your mind to it you could come up with some way of holding the sensor in position.
Cheers.

Re: Rear ABS Fault Caused by totally rotten ABS Mount plates
Well, i have kind of found the solution everyone and this is quite unbelievable......
Turns out the sensor mount is included in some Clio 3 front bearing kits on eBay. And the even more bizarre part about this, its a useless part for that car from what i understand!
I also found them on Megane MK 3 front wheel bearing kits on eBay, so maybe the Megane 3's have them at the front?
Might explain why they just bundled them into one, as the kits identical to the Clio ones (presumably cheaper to just include the lot even if they are not required on a Clio)
I have also contacted a company called "Key Parts" who actually manufacture these kits, telling them of the Megane MK2 Problem..... hopefully they will see a sales opportunity and start selling them separately!
I am sure, very sure in fact that many people with these cars will start running into this problem more and more as these cars are only getting older.
The part is just silly IMO, but it is what it is !

Re: Rear ABS Fault Caused by totally rotten ABS Mount plates
For anyone who may be interested, here are 2 ABS rings that i have sourced from First Line Ltd.
After messaging them about the problem, they agreed to send me 2 of the ABS Sensor retainer rings without the bearing parts:
Looks very promising, i will be putting these on the car next week. The sensor certainly connects correctly into the clips, looks like a winner.
IF all goes well, because i contacted them they will likely start selling them as a separate item

That's a fantastic result, well done
I read quite a few post on this and other Renault forums from owners with corroded mounting plates, so if the part becomes available and people know about it I'm sure there will be a market for them.
Cheers.

Re: Rear ABS Fault Caused by totally rotten ABS Mount plates
Unfortunately, the rings have not worked, the central hole is around 4mm in circumference too big. We got around this by welding an old exhaust pipe into the middle, which then made it stay tight to the stub.
Thought that would do it! NOPE! The next problem is the actual width and dimensions of the ring itself, it is larger than the original and the inner part which protrudes upwards, rubs against the brake disc.
I am still stuck with the same problem see pictures:
