Megane MK11 2009 CC vin sticker

Postby CCMegane09 » Wed Feb 06, 2019 7:31 am

Help please. My wife has a 2009 Megane CC and the one half of the VIN sticker on the drivers door is destroyed due to the seat belt jamming in the door. Unfortunately it wont pass the MOT as the VIN and weights are no longer attached. My question is what is displayed on the sticker (the oval part is intact) and Renault want £85 for the pleasure of replacing it. Yet I see some have just used a sticker company to print a new one for £5! Many thanks!

A Mk2 Megane CC shows the VIN number, and then below that are the following weights -
1880 Kg
2850 Kg
1-1060 Kg
2-1000 Kg

But I don't think you need it for the MoT as long as you can still read the VIN number at the bottom of the windscreen, as it only has to be in one place.

The MoT test manual says -
0.2 Vehicle identification number (VIN)
You must check the vehicle is displaying a legible vehicle identification number.
A vehicle identification number (VIN or chassis number) is required on:
• kit cars and amateur built vehicles first used on or after 1 September 2001
• all other vehicles first used on or after 1 August 1980
Vehicles may have the VIN displayed in more than one location, but only one VIN is required to be complete and legible
