Engine oil

Hi Im gonna change oil and filter just wondering how much oil do I need to buy, also how do I find out if my megan mk2 1.4 16v 2006 is either 82hp 60kw or 98hp 72kw I've checked on log book but no joy I need to know just for parts on ebay.. Thanks

Hi,
You will need just under 5 litres of oil.

There should be a sticker with the Hp of the engine in the drivers door opening on the B pillar.

Is the oil filter easy to get to also will I need a tool to losen it..

You may be able to unscrew the oil filter off by hand, if it's tight try wrapping a piece of sand paper around it to get a better grip on it.

You will need a 8mm square tool to remove the sump drain plug.


This video below shows the job on a 1.6 but it's more or less the same engine.

The handbook lists a few different grades of oil that can be used, personally I would use the 5w-40.

Hi looked on stickers on drivers side but no mention of hp engine type.

Mine has a sticker beside the door catch.




Try putting your reg in at we buy any car, then it should bring up the car details before you go any further on the site.

Got stickers but no info on hp... Got on one sticker renault megan dynamique 1.4 16 100. Or does the 100 mean 100 hp..

I believe the 100 means 100 hp.



I've edited my earlier post with mention of the 6 speed gearbox being on the higher power versions, I forgot your engine is the petrol, I was thinking about the 1.5 dci engined cars.
