Renault Megane Oasis Estate (2005) - Boot automatically opening when I turn on lights.

As the title suggests, the boot of my car automatically opens at random intervals. But specifically it opens if I turn on the headlights/side lights and also if I press the rear window heater button. Strangely the rear window heat button now makes the rear window wiper activate when it's pressed.

I am suspecting there may be damage on the boot wiring loom but was hoping for some input from people with much more mechanical knowledge than I have.
