Lights wont turn off.

Hi All,

new to the forum and hoping I can get some help.

I have a 54 plate Megane 2.0 VVT Cab which has just failed its MoT on one thing.

The lights will not turn off. When you start the engine the main lights come on and cannot be turned of.

It has the sensor and the 'Auto' button at the end of the stalk but this does nothing when pressed.

The stalk has positions 1,2,&3. You can set the switch to 1 & 2 but the third position is non latching and just springs back.

I have checked the fuses and they all seem OK.

The garage has told me it needs a new stalk assembly at £275 but I would like to be sure before splashing the cash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
