Pulling Left after changing springs,

Postby Ayhan1999 » Fri Aug 31, 2018 5:58 pm

Dear Group,
Need your help.
I have a RHD Renault Megane 2, 1.6l year 2007. Recently the driver side front spring went and I changed both springs, and the garage also identified the passenger side steering arm needed changing and he replaced it. I Got the tracking wheel alignment corrected and the car pulls to the left (passenger side). Took it to another tracking specialist who said the tracking is spot on and I explained the problem, and they said its the strut bearings and they need to be changed.

Took it back to the original garage who replaced the springs and steering arm, and told them that the strut bearings may need changing, they investigated the issue and said the passenger side top mount was making a slight grinding noise, and replaced the part. The driver side was ok and did not replacing.
The car still pulled to the left, I went and got the the tracking done again, which did not solve the problem, and they said the tracking is spot on and they even swapped the front wheels around after I said it pulls to the left.
So far no one seems to be able to diagnose the problem on why my car pulls to the left.

I am at at a loss, can someone tell me what the issue is with key directional words for a garage to check? I have read quite a few posts and no one seems to have found a solution, I know each situation maybe different.

Can someone provide a sensible answer, or a good mechanic (Chesham Buckinghamshire area or London) that will be able to investigate the problem properly without changing part after part at great cost £.

Thanks
Ayhan

had a renault 21, 20 year ago that had exactly the same problem when the top mount bearing seized, would pull to left till you hit a bump then ok. is it the same on all roads ? different cambers can also cause this issue, if its the same road all the time try a different road. I changed both front springs and both top mounts , amongst a lot of other parts ! on my 2008 megane dci and havent had this problem, the top mount has a plastic locater for teh spring to sit in, I had a hell of job fitting one of them, the other was ok. What sort of garages are you dealing with ? fast fit outfits like kwik fit ? or local independant, renault specialist ?

I'll go back to the garage with your advice, let me know if you have any other ideaso what it could be in the meantime.
