Stop start button

Postby StevieP » Tue Jan 02, 2018 9:10 pm

Hi. I have had my 2006 megane cc for a few years now. However, this could be normal. When I start my car, I have to put in the key card, press the button, then press the clutch/break and then press the button again. Most other videos or friends just have to put the key in, press the clutch/break and press the button. Am I doing something wrong to do I need to reset something. Cheers. steve.

Hi,
there is a video on you tube where they have to insert a knife with the card to get it to start.
Just quirks I guess, main thing is that it starts up ok.

Make sure you have good battery in the key card. It needs to transmit to the car in order to work as it should.
With a dead battery, it will still work when you put it in the key reader.
This keyless-go system is supposed to mean that you can leave the key in your pocket or bag at all times.
Heres how mine works:
Throw keys in my pocket/pack,
doors unlock automatically as soon as I grab outside door handle.
jump in,
push and hold foot brake,
press start button,
hold brake while diesel glow plugs heat up,
car starts.
No need to ever touch keycard or insert it in key reader.
This is one of the most convenient bits of tech I've ever owned.

Maybe voltage test the battery in your key card, should be 3volts or more.
Do your doors unlock automatically without pushing the button on the key?
