rear wiper / heated screen issues

Hi all. I've got a 2007 Megane estate. The rear wiper does not work from the the stalk switch but switches on/off when the heated rear screen button is pressed. Any ideas on how best to chase down where the wires have become crossed?

Hi,
you could checkout the wiring and connections at the wiper motor and check for damp etc, maybe check the loom in the tailgate.
lt's also quite likely though to be the interior multiplex module at fault, common on these models.

The tailgate loom on estates tends to break, causing these strange behaviours.

Mine has broken a few years ago , making the wiper work when the ignition was turned on/off.

It was fixed, and I think it has broken again recently. The third stop light sometimes doesn't turn on, and the tailgate is not always locking.

It is an easy fix, and if made correctly, it should last. Mine clearly wasn't

Thanks for the replies. Filipe: Do you remember where the loom broke? Was it where the loom goes into the flexible tube between the back of the car and the tailgate? Thanks, CL

Problem is most likely in wiring loom
Top lefthand side of tailgate.
Break in one or more wires in black
rubber boot, pull boot back to expose
wiring.search this site for "boot won't open"
Issues,the same area on the loom is problematic
The breaks occur where the loom folds in
the rubber boot.
