Tailgate opening when engine running

Postby Trevor9666 » Fri Oct 27, 2017 6:20 pm

Can anyone help please. My tailgate has started opening itself for no reason whilst my engine is running. Another issue that may or maybe not connected is my rear wiper has stopped working at the same time as the tailgate started opening. The wiper will try to move and then unlatches the tailgate.

My Car is a 1.5 DCI Megane estate 2009 mk2

Hi,
lf l were you, l'd look at the tailgate switch and rear wiper motor and all connections for damp or water ingress, it only needs to be damp to cause problems.
Bob.

Have sorted problem with my tailgate opening problem. After investigation I discovered 4 wires had been cut inside the rubber flexi trunking from the cabin to the tailgate. have fixed these and hopefully have cured the problem.

Hi,
on my car, the rear wiper does a quick wipe everytime l start the car.
lt's a fault in the interior multiplex module which l can live with.
When l leave somewhere, it's like the car is waving goodbye.
You may find something like this with your car, hence the wires cut.
Good luck and well done finding it.
Bob.
