Hey,
I've just introduced myself in the welcome thread and thought whilst I'm on here I might as well start asking questions.
I've just bought my MkII 1.9 dCi Megane Convertible on a 08 plate. The Reg I believe is under my post.
I was let down by a mobile Mechanic over the weekend who should of changed my CamBelt on my new car I just bought. He failed to show and blocked me from contacting him without letting me know he couldn't make it. I had told him I could not be let down because on the 4th May I need to drive my new car on a 550 round trip. There was no info on the CamBelt when I bought the car last week, so I had no choice but to get it changed.
I ended up buying the part myself and so when this mechanic failed to show I started to panic. It took me until this afternoon to get someone to change the belts and water pump for me and agreed on £250 for the labour. I'm fine with that, although a tad more than I would of paid, but needed it done.
He's been on the phone to tell me all four discs are shot and I need all my brakes changing. I knew it was a problem when I drove it home and heard metal on metal when braking to a stop. Again because of the drive tomorrow I agreed to the front pads and discs along with the sensor to be changed. All in for another £250. But they needed doing so I agreed, but held back on the back discs. I know from my previous Megane that I was told for the back Discs they come with something else, can't remember what exactly mainly cos of my age...... But I was quoted £450 for the rear discs all in.
I know I can get the complete kit cheaper, so I'm looking at Mister Auto in France. The only problem I have is I'm unsure what exactly my specs are. On my paperwork I have a Non Fap 130 Hp 1.9dCi Renault Megane Convertible on a 08 plate. But on various sites it says that there is not a 130 but a 131Hp. I went on another site to find my car specs and on that it says mine is a 110 Hp with numbers like 83 with a division sign then 53 next to the 110 Hp.
So if anyone can help me with
a) My cars specs from my number plate to establish exactly what Hp I have
b) A link to either eBay or Mister Auto for my correct Brake info
Unless it doesn't matter because there all the same, in that case I need only a link so I know for sure which to buy. I did see a link when browsing on here before I joined and there was a complete set from just £75 all in with the ABS sensor & rings included. But unsure if that was for the same car as mine. I know there not £450 all in that's for sure, so how much am I looking at for just labour if I did buy the parts?
Many thanks in advance.
Rear disc & brakes need changing but unsure of specs.

Hi,
put your reg number in ' eurocarparts' and 'carspares ltd', both are pretty good and see if they come up with the same part numbers.
Bob.

I paid about £300 around christmas time for rear discs and pads on my 62 plate 1.5 dci tom tom at 38k 4 year old. Year before a Renault main dealer condemmed them at service time, said they had overheated and refused a warranty claim as it was a service item. My 08 dci coupe ( I know glutton for punishment) is about ready for its 3rd set at 72K - last ones fitted 3 years ago, also about £300 plus cost of a caliper as would not wind back (£70) . Needless to say i've downsized to a clio which has rear drums, £100 a year saving straight away !
