Heater blower only works on 4

Hi all,

Have an issue with the heater blower only working on setting number 4. So far I have done the following:

Replaced fuse in fuse box, replaced thermal fuse & resistor, changed the loom as previous has burns on the connector with an updated one.

This got I from not working at all to only working on setting 4, has anyone had a similar issue? Can't see it being the heater motor as surely if that was faulty it would not work at all?

It's a megane 2 1.5 dci 2006 non climate control.

Regards, Kerry

My Megane on works on 1,2,3 not 4; someone has told me "your resistor is on its way out".

Perhaps someone can give you more info?

There are two common causes of a heater blower fan problem in the Scenic 2 without aircon:

A. Faulty Heater Resistor (Otherwise known as the Heater Blower Resistor, Resistor Pack, Heater Rheostat or Blower Motor Resistor, Part No. 509638 / 7701207876 )
Usually, it is the thermal fuse on it that fails.

I have replaced both the loom and the entire resistor though and it now works but only on setting 4.

There was an extra wire on the new loom that didn't seem to go anywhere, possibly this is causing the problem? It's a upgraded loom that doubles two terminals to overcome the melting issue on previous ones.

Either this or its possible I had a faulty resistor pack sent

hello there....
first check the heater resistors and thermal fuse for continuity.
I think the values on my one were 500, 1000 and 1500 ohms. The thermal fuse has hardly any resistance.. almost 0 ohms. After that its time to check the speed switch. On the full speed the resistor/thermal fuse pack is bypassed by the speed switch.

Hi any update on what the final solution to this was? I have the same issue with my 1.5dci...
Best,

Replace the resistor pack. About £15 from eBay.
I need to get around to doing this on my CC. I had to replace the one on my hatchback as well.. so it's a common issue.

If there's an extra wire, it's the wrong loom, and that would explain why it doesn't work..
